Red Brick Research was delighted to host the Student Experience Zone at the Student Accommodation Conference 2017. During the event, we explored all things student experience with a range of exciting contributors from higher education, PBSA and wider business.
Chris Shelley, Director of Student and Academic Services at the University of Greenwich kicked off the zone with an examination of university strategy. The Red Brick team then looked at VR and the Future Student Experience, examining some of the latest practical innovations within higher education. ASK4 then discussed their latest research on connected living. The research was conducted with 3000 14 to 16 year-olds from across Europe and examined how their online identities shape their environment and their expectations of university.
The stream then closed with the Innovation LaunchPad during which young entrepreneurs battled to win a £1000 prize. The budding student entrepreneurs were:
Risha Jindal, Digimeal, University of Sussex
Ellenor McIntosh, Twipes, City University, London
Jack Rungay and Joel Hopkins, Limelight, University of Birmingham
Sanuel, QA Detectives, University of Birmingham
The session was hosted by Solly Akhtar, technology entrepreneur (Founder of Socialbear) and final five in the BBC’s The Apprentice. Solly shared his experience of running a rapidly expanding tech startup and provided some excellent feedback for the start-ups along with the judging panel. We will be talking to Solly soon about his latest projects!
Twipes was the competition winner. Twipes are environmentally sustainable, moist wipes on a plastic roll that can slide on to your existing bathroom toilet roll holder. Elle from Twipes said “We feel ecstatic! We have match funding so this really means we can have our first production run and get it really on the way!”.
