Invitation to Collaborate
Global Student Living Study
Red Brick Research (UK) is co-ordinating an international study of student mental health and wellbeing in purpose-built student accommodation, and the factors that drive positive outcomes.
The study will help the sector and participating institutions develop a greater understanding of:
- The differences in perceived wellbeing levels between countries and institution types
- The link between wellbeing and accommodation choice
- The accommodation factors most likely to positively influence wellbeing
- The role of social and resident life activity in positive wellbeing
The 2018 fieldwork covered the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. More than 60 universities participated, together collecting data from over 40,000 student respondents across Europe.
The latest European institutions to join include: Keele University, Heriot-Watt University, University of Essex, University of Sheffield, University of York, Edge Hill University, Bournemouth University, Aston University, Canterbury Christ Church University, Lancaster University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Arts University Bournemouth, Bangor University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, The Glasgow School of Art, Queen Margaret University, Queen’s Belfast, St. Mary’s University Twickenham, University of Bedfordshire, University of Derby, University of Easy London, University of Winchester, Dublin City University.
Fieldwork Extended to Asia-Pacific
We are now inviting participation from universities and accommodation providers across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region who would like to contribute to this global initiative.
We intend to produce regional and potentially country-level reports later in 2019. We also hope to present our findings to participating organisations in Australia and New Zealand towards the end of 2019.
How it works
Participation simply involves forwarding a short mobile-optimised online survey to students in purpose-built accommodation.
The survey is completely anonymous and is fully compliant with European GDPR regulations as well as both state and federal regulations in Australia and New Zealand, including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and NZ Privacy Act.
Student incentives in the form of cash prize draws are provided from our central project funding to assist with encouraging responses at no cost to you.
Any publicly funded institution may participate for free and will receive a copy of the global report as well as findings specific to their region.
